First Trip to the ER

January 19 was a horrible day. It was so sad. Cooper was standing on a chair at the table eating an apple while I was with Sadie in the living room. I heard a crashing and jumped up. He had turned around in the chair to watch the U-Haul outside and tipped the chair over. He had a bloody nose so I snuggled him and tried to get it to stop bleeding. Every time I wiped it he just cried and cried. It was so sad. After 40 minutes and 2 popsicles (thanks Grandpa) he calmed down and the bleeding mostly stopped. I decided to try and get the blood that was caked under his nose off. He screamed when I did it. I looked closer and my stomach just churned. It wasn't just caked blood but an open, gaping cut. Like the bottom of his nose peeled off his face. I called the pediatrician's office and they said it sounded like stitches, which meant an emergency room visit. Hoorah. Spence was in class and I called on the way, but I stopped on the third call even though I knew he'd answer on the fourth (yeah, got in trouble for that after). We got back really quickly and they called in a facial surgeon. Before the doctor got there Spencer did, which was nice. He got three stitches, two in between his nostrils and 1 on the left side. They stayed in for 6 days and he took antibiotics (which he LOVED) and we had to clean it 4 times a day. There were two lines across his face which solved the mystery of how it got cut. On his way down he hit his head on the wooden window sill. And then bounced up and hit it again. SO SAD! All in all, I guess we survived our first er visit all right (and hopefully our last)!

oh that is so sad looking :( Poor Coop! I probably would have freaked out more than you did and I'm supposed to be trained in dealing with stuff like that!
